Why should someone move to River Bend Retirement Community?
River Bend Retirement Community was founded to help people live longer, healthier and happier lives. We want people to age in place and be able to stay independent in their private apartment without having to go to institutional care.
Our goal is to help our residents stay active and we do this through our wellness programs, our social calendars, our delicious meals and by providing a community where they feel secure surrounded by friends. This gives them the freedom to do more things, go more places, spend more time with family, visit more with friends and just generally, live a better life.
Can I afford to live here?
You may be wondering about the affordability of living in our community. We work hard to keep the monthly fee reasonable and its increases to a minimum. When you compare what it costs to maintain your present home with what it costs to enjoy the amenities of our community, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. When you consider all of our services such as home maintenance and lawn care, dining, a full social activities calendar, exercise classes, weekly housekeeping, scheduled transportation, concierge services, paid utilities, paid taxes, and emergency response all at your fingertips – you’ll discover that life is better and, perhaps, even less expensive.
What is the Lifestyle Fee?
The Lifestyle Fee is a non-refundable one-time charge required by River Bend to cover activities, maintenance, homeowners insurance and other costs related to owning a home.
How would you describe your activities program?
A full-time Activities Director plans and coordinates a daily schedule of varied activities geared to our residents’ interests and preferences. There are exercise and educational classes, BINGO and card games, crafts, study groups, parties, and movie nights. We also offer outings to cultural destinations, day excursions, shopping trips, and lunches out on the town. Seasonal events, happy hours, themed dinners, and birthday celebrations are included, too. Our social calendars are published before the beginning of the month so that each member can plan in advance and invite their friends and family.
What is the dining program?
Our residents enjoy nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner options that are provided daily.
Does River Bend allow pets?
Unfortunately, no. River Bend does not allow pets inside the facility. However you can have a family member bring a beloved pet for a visit in our outside garden area.
Can residents decorate their apartment and bring their own furniture?
Absolutely! At River Bend Retirement Community, we encourage you to create the home environment you have always enjoyed!
Are there any benefits that could assist with my monthly rent?
Long Term Care Insurance
Do you have long term insurance? Even if your policy states it will ONLY cover a nursing home, this may no longer be the case. If you meet the requirements of your policy, it may cover certified assisted living. Please feel free to contact us, and we will assist you in the right direction.
Veteran or Widow of a Veteran
If you are a veteran or widow of a veteran who served in a war, you may be eligible for a monetary program called Aid and Attendance. Please feel free to inquire about this program.

Are you or someone you love thinking about moving into a retirement community but not sure which type is right for you? Or perhaps the choices seem overwhelming and nothing speaks to you? Considering the amount of articles and publicity on the subject, searching for your next home can be a complicated process. At the same time, it’s understandable to assume that all senior residences are the same.
Whether you prefer the supportive, more self-guided environment of Independent Living, or need a higher level of care when suffering from a form of Dementia (Memory Care), there are a wide range of options, each catering to seniors of varying needs, activity levels and lifestyle expectations. Some senior residences, such as River Bend, serve a cross-section of older adults, combining several types of retirement living under one roof. These continuing care communities allow independent residents to reside alongside seniors with more complex mental and physical needs. As such, services and amenities cater to a wider aging-in-place population and allow for more interaction among residents.
Deciding which senior living option is best for you doesn’t have to be difficult. Ultimately, it comes down to which type of residence best aligns with your level of health, mobility, fitness and independence, as well as lifestyle choice.
