Meet the Staff

I started River Bend in August of 2009. I have been in food service for 12 years working in restaurants and health care facilities. Cooking has always been a great interest in my life since I was a little girl always in the kitchen with my grandmother. I am currently 28 years old 26 of these years I have lived in Hopkinton were I currently reside. I have one daughter Rylee that is 10 years old and a cavalier king charles puppy named Cooper that is 9 months old. Rylee attends Maquoketa Valley Schools in Delhi. Rylee keeps me very busy in my spare with many activities, campfire and softball are just a few, also in my spare time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going to races, cooking, crafts, campfires and many outdoor activities. I enjoy working here and look forward to the future. I'm always open for new ideas and suggestions to make the food service department the best it can be for our residents.

I'm Carrie Young the new nurse manager at River Bend. I moved around very frequently growing up due to my father's navy career. I have lived in Iowa since 1989 and for the past year have lived in Anamosa. I received my degree in nursing at Kirkwood Community College after studying law and information systems management. These just didn't seem to satisfy me and I kept feeling drawn to nursing. I have worked in healthcare since 1994, first as a certified nurse's aide then an oral medication technician and then a licensed practical nurse. I have worked with the elderly population most of my career in various skilled nursing facilities. I have also worked as an Assistant Director of Nursing. The last four years I have worked on a step down critical care unit at St. Luke's Hospital.
I have two children a daughter, Cassandra who is 17 and is a senior at Anamosa High School. I am not looking forward to the end of the year when she will graduate and be moving to Missouri to pursue a degree in linguistics. My son, Justin is 15 and a freshman in high school and would like to one day be a pastor.
It was very nice getting a chance to meet you all at the Thanksgiving dinner and I am very much looking forward to getting to know all the residents and family members better and feel very privileged to help make River Bend the best it can be. My name is Jill Koopmann, and I am excited to be the new marketing coordinator at River Bend. A lot of you already know me; but for the ones who don't I have been working part-time at River Bend for the past 3 years, working in the kitchen and as a universal worker. I currently live south of Epworth with my husband Wade and two sons, Austin &Will. I also am a native to Cascade. My parents are Rollie & Theresa Stecklein. During my time at River Bend I have really enjoyed getting to know all the residents and staff. We are so fortunate to have a facility in our area that offers our seniors a safe and comfortable home-like environment where they can live worry-free. I look forward to having the opportunity to inform the community and surrounding areas about River Bend and what it has to offer.
